Below Zero

Eddie (oops, we’re supposed to call him Edward now) Furlong has become a familiar figure in indie films over the past few years, and BELOW ZERO is just one of a slew of projects he’s been working on. Production started back in 2010, but stills have only just been released. The film also stars horror veteran Michael Berryman, and Kristin Booth (The Kennedys).

BELOW ZERO was originally supposed to be a 3D flick, but apparently plans changed, since there’s no longer mention of 3D in the title. It’s billed as a “true story” of a frustrated screenwriter who locks himself in a meat cooler to battle his writers block and ends up with more of a story than he bargained for.  As it turns out, screenwriter Signe Olynyk actually locked herself in a meat cooler as she was writing the script, which – you guessed it – is where the “true story” comes from.

Let’s hope this doesn’t start a trend among horror screenwriters, ’cause acting out their stories in real life could get messy.

Synopsis
‘Jack the Hack’, a less than average but once successful screenwriter, faces writer’s block. Desperate to meet a career-saving deadline and lock out the distractions of his troubled life, Jack arranges to be left alone and locked inside a meat cooler with only vegetarian meals and his imagination to inspire him. As the temperature drops, the lines between reality and fiction blur, and Jack’s script comes dangerously to life. Will he make the most important deadline of his career? Or is Jack ‘just a hack’?
